This version of Fantasy Zone lacks copy protection, making it easily duplicated. The absence of protection is noteworthy but does not affect the core gameplay, which stays consistent with the original.  It's likely that this unprotected version was distributed without the authorization of Sega, the original developers.  The ease of duplication might explain its wider distribution in some arcades or among collectors.
